Last Minute Memorial Day Cupcake Toppers

It's never too late to whip out some cupcake toppers.  All you need are toothpicks and some ribbon.

Cut the ribbon to the size you want and hot glue them to the toothpicks.

And you are finished in less than five minutes.  cool

Back In Stock

I finally found some more small daisies so these cuties are back in stock.  I keep getting wonky pictures or they turn sideways and will not edit right.  Probably operator error but I'm blaming the technology.

More Fun From The Dollar Store

I also found these maypole candies at the dollar store.  They are so sweet looking all by themselves or displayed in a pretty vase.  And for cakes or cupcakes they are awesome.  You can bend them over a cupcake and secure with a toothpick to form a basket handle.  Spread them around the base of a cake to form a cute border.  And then there's this:

Get some extra long toothpicks.

Wrap the maypole into a lollipop shape.  Push the toothpick through all the layers.
then ta da!  A lollipop cupcake topper.  So sweet for a baby shower too.

this link shows a larger one with a free printable

UPDATE:  more examples of above ideas

what's up with this one?  it's a bit wonky
We're eating this cake tonight.

Cotton Candy Ice Cream Cone Favors

I really shouldn't go to Dollar Tree.  Everything I see in there reminds me of a party somehow.  And it's only a dollar, who can resist?  So today I made these fun things.

You'll need cotton candy, and ice cream cones.  Both available at $ tree.  I wrapped a strip of scrapbook paper around the cone and the stuffed it full of cotton candy.  So fun.  They would be even better if you added some small candies and prizes before you add the cotton candy.  Let's pretend there are some in there.

UPDATE:  we ate them and they were great,  But they hardened up after sitting out becoming powdery so eat them outside or over a plate.

Cupcake Wrapper Recycling

You've probably guessed that I have thrown about a million children's parties.  I like to use the decorations
over  for a while and then give them to goodwill.  But this time I recycled.  GO GREEN!
I had a pretty fabric table runner I've used a few times and am ready to let go.  I thought about making some kind of curtain but the material is very stiff so it wouldn't drape right.  I finally thought to make cupcake wrappers.  The fabric is perfect for them, stiff enough to hold them upright and sheer and pretty.  And you can clean them and use them over for another party.

I found a pattern for a wrapper online, printed it, and cut away.  They turned out really pretty.
